If For Only One!

About This Piece:
I don't make pins often, but as I told a friend...I just needed to create this. The focal point of this Cheetah Chain Pin comes from a broken belt, the chains that are hanging from it hail from a broken necklace, and the fabric was purchased. It hangs about 4 inches long.

The price of this item is $20 (tax and shipping not included) and please remember that the paypal button under the pin is ONLY for this Cheetah Chain Pin. There will be posts following with other jewelry available to purchase, and in the event it is needed, a return policy is at the end of this post. If you are looking for other items that are for sale, please hit the for sale label on the left side of this blog. That will bring up all the items that are currently for sale.

Thought For The Day:
About two weeks ago I created what is called an info-doodle for my business and my life that contains vision and mission statements for both. I have come up with both before, but not quite like this. This go round I had the help of an awesome business group that I am so honored to be a part of. There were some edits, but I finally came up with four solid statements (two mission & two vision).

I received some very kind words attached to this blog via an email. Come to find out my blog has been encouraging to her. It was at that point that my life mission statement came alive to me: Tene' is an integral renaissance woman committed to sharing her God given talents with the world as a vehicle to encourage people to seek a greater relationship with God.

It hit me smack in the face. If I was writing, sharing, blogging...creating to encourage only one person (even if that one person happens to be little ole' me) then it is all worth it. I will write on, share on, blog on, paint on, draw on...you get the hint! I won't stop! The one is depending on me...and according to my mission statement, I am well equipped to deliver!!!

P.S...for as much as these writings may encourage you all, I am far more encouraged when I receive kind words from readers. It really does ignite a continued pursuit to be aligned with my mission and vision, which is all tied to my purpose!!!

On My Work Desk:

Sunset piece is in construction. I did some more layering, and now the drying process. I am super excited to get some paint on here!

Why Do You Follow?

Thought For The Day:
These days with social media being the "it" thing, everyone is following someone. If it's not on Facebook, it's Twitter. If it's not on Instagram, it's Flickr. If it's not on LinkedIn it's Foursquare. Oh and who could forget this lovely site and it's rival Wordpress. My point is...if it's not one social media site, it's another. And there is someone out there for everyone to follow on these platforms.

So, I am on almost all of the sites that I posted above, with the exception of a few. A friend of mine said to me the other day, "Oh...you have xxx amount of followers". It sparked a question inside of me and made me wonder, why I follow the folks that I follow. I came up with this short, but not exhausted list:

They have something great to share:
I'm always on the hunt for someone who has something great to share. That something great could be encouraging words, a product, something funny, or something that is just aesthetically pleasing to the eye. After all, who doesn't like a pretty picture. It doesn't have to be something super deep, but sometimes it is. It's just something that I deem to be great.

They are going in the same direction as I am:
There are lots of people that are going in the same direction as I am. I like to keep up with them. I like to know how they are doing the things that they are doing. I like to see their progress. I like to be inspired by their progress, and cheer them on all at the same time. It keeps me in the mind frame of constantly pressing forward...constantly going after what I know in my heart I am here on this planet for.

They are good for networking:
I have a business, and I want my business to be successful. I want it to thrive. I want it to become all that it has the potential to be and more. So I follow those that can get me to that place. They are more than my peers. They serve more as mentors...seasoned in the game that I am just becoming a part of. It's humbling and exciting all at the same time. I get to hear about and see their story, and become inspired to have a great story of my own.

They are family and friends:
Now this can get a little sticky if family and friends don't fall into the categories mentioned above. Everyone (including myself) has someone they follow because they decided to follow you. I'm not saying that this is a great idea, but I am saying that it exists.

At the end of the day, those that I follow brighten my day in one way or the other. I only pray that I can offer the same to those that follow me.

On My Work Desk:

I am working vigorously on the sunset series. This is the foundation for the third piece. I do believe that this one will be fun to complete. There will be more to come in a bit.

Corner of Gratitude:
Those that keep me grounded

Pearls of Wisdom:

Life

About This Piece:

Thought For The Day:
Well...life as I know it took over for a while. I have had some things to tend to, which explains the lack of posting. I won't even bore you with the details, but I will say that in the past month and a half I have experienced a range of emotions from super blessed to extremely frustrated, and everything in between. My family and friends have been so instrumental in helping me to keep my head above water. I really couldn't thank them enough.

Although I haven't been posting, I have been creating like crazy. I've been really working almost around the clock on painting,  jewelry and scarf making. I've been getting paintings ready for my first solo show this summer, and preparing jewelry and scarfs for the 2013 fall/winter season.

So busy I am, pressing forward and leaving my mark while I am at it!

On My Work Desk:

Since I started making jewelry years ago I have wanted to include the gentlemen. Of course, it is easier for me to produce jewelry for females because I am one, but I know that there are men out there that wear masculine pieces as well. So I have made a concerted effort to come up with some designs for men this season. This bracelet is made from hemp and suede. The rings are made of wood, and come from an unwanted necklace.

This was a gift to a friend that was inspired by a scarf she saw in a magazine. I was able to add a few creative touches to make it my own design. It will be part of the new winter 2013 collection. I will also be creating something special for the men this upcoming winter. So stay tuned!

Parisian Themed Mural Part II

Thought For The Day:
Yesterday I had an epiphany. I was, and have been spending way too much time thinking about things that simply don't matter or have anything to do with me. I've been wasting what I like to call....brain time!

I spend an immense amount of time daydreaming about the things that are not immediately before me. Don't get me wrong, dreaming within itself is not a bad thing. In order to write the vision, you have to have one first. So, I don't knock daydreaming. It is the obsessive daydreaming that steals precious time from making each moment count in the now that is harmful.

For those that know me, I am sensitive with a compassionate heart. I will take someones problem on as my own in a minute in the name of encouraging, helping or championing them. In the end, it is just serves as an enabler.

I thought about all of this a lot. And I thought about what mind frame has gotten me the furthest. I have to say, it hasn't been the above. It's been the ability to turn the problems of others (and even my own) over to the One that can really do something about it. I realize that's not in my job description. As a matter of fact, the objective of my resume is to stay in my lane!

So folks, I am working on staying in my lane. That means that I am willing to keep the above mentioned things in check and

On My Work Desk:

The Parisian themed mural for baby Gabriella is done! My work day yesterday was long, but it didn't feel like work. As I posted on FB, it never does when you are doing what you love and purposed to do!

It was a pleasure to do this for yet another family, and I am so sure that this is the start of something wonderful!

Don't forget to check out Gabriella's mom, Danielle on her blog at: What's Buzzin? We're Building a Savoy with Ryan Homes! She has been updating regularly!

Parisian Themed Mural Part I

Thought For The Day:
The thought for the day is short and sweet.

I am loving that things are falling in place! Lately, there has been no fight, but just a willingness on my part to lay down what I want to do and allow God to do His thing! It's quite frankly the best feeling. I am learning to enjoy the journey and not look for what I think the large end result would be. After all, once the end of the journey comes, there is another journey to strap up for.

On My Work Desk:

Hooray...I have started the Parisian themed mural for baby Gabriella!!! It will end up being 3 vignettes when it is all finished. They will depict the Eiffel Tower, a little girl walking her poodle, and a street sign named after her.

Baby Gabriella's mom Danielle is a fellow blogger as well. Her and her husband have just built a house with Ryan Homes and she is sharing their process. She is creating an awesome following of those who enjoy interior decorating. You can find her at What's Buzzin? We're Building a Savoy with Ryan Homes!

It was hard to take great pictures at the time these were taken. It was dark outside, the room has a nice soft ambiance light, and the way I had to take the picture to get the full wall, were all factors. I feel like comedian Kevin Hart right now with his bank account jokes. :*)

Nonetheless, I wanted you all to get an idea of what things are shaping up to look like. Of course more updates are to come!

2 and 2

Thought For The Day
It's been 2 days over 2 months since I have updated last. And from everything that I read, that is a horrible thing for a blog and business. Well...despite what "they" say, this small break has been super instrumental in my future.

While I haven't been posting, I have been living my passion to the fullest! It hasn't been all easy...fear rears it's ugly head when it feels like it, and sometimes that is often. However, I have been on a mission, on my grind, and hustling hard. Any way you slice it, I am living my life on purpose.

So this post will not be all that long or super laced with pictures. I am using it as more of an update of what has been going on in the past few weeks.

On My Work Desk:
Mixed Media - I am still working on the sunset series that I wrote about the last post. I am quite pleased with the way that they are turning out.

I am in search of a place to host my first every art exhibition! Of course there are really no words to express how excited I am. I am not all that nervous about this one. This is a necessary move...one that I was created to make. It's the first of many successful moves! I will keep you all update as to when it happens...of course you all are invited :)

I have started a Parisian themed mural for a happy couple that will be blessed with a baby girl in the next few months. I will post progress pictures soon.

Scarfs/Cowls - Business has been booming as I have been blessed to come up with some fresh and  innovative designs.

Other Things Creative - A little while ago I posted a short teaser clip about a mixed tape that is coming out that I was involved in. Well, that has turned into something all together different. It's a good different. An anti-bullying difference!

Two fellas (Willecutz and Steve Forte) and I have had the privilege to go into two elementary schools and perform original songs that circle around giving kids a better self awareness so that bullying becomes obsolete. Check out a little more here at the links below:
