Thought For The Day:
Today I am on what I call, "my grind"! I am feeling good. I'm on top of things today! I have been sitting in my office (Starbuck's) for about 4 hours now. I can't say that I have gotten as much done as I would have liked within the 4 hours, but I am sure further along than when I sat down.

I call that an accomplishment! As a matter of fact, I am learning not to beat myself up for not getting as much done as I anticipated I would when I plan my day out. I am learning that there is no coincidence to the flow of my day...on course or not. Perhaps what I call a distraction is not a distraction at all.  When it's all said and done, I believe I accomplish and complete the tasks intended for me to accomplish and complete for that day. The Creator...my Creator has mapped out my day perfectly, and I glad for the guidance!

Thanks for reading! Until next post...

Thought For The Day:
I am starting to understand the importance of allowing other to help me. I have a propensity to be very independent for various reasons that I won't bore you with in this post. But put plainly, in some cases I have had to, and in others I just wanted to.

So here I am learning to place a little bit of trust in the folks that I know have my back. Those people that can't be mistaken for an acquaintance, but those I call family and friends. I took a big leap last week. I met with my Pastors. If I had to be honest, I wasn't quite sure what they would say about me pursuing what I know God desires for me to do. I wasn't quite sure if they were going to catch the vision I was given and support it. I was almost convinced that they would attempt to rope a noose around my neck to keep me strangled by what is typically referred to as "ministry". I thought they were going to try and keep me in a box and I was going to have to fight my way out. Can you tell that I have had some bad experiences?

To my surprise, they were extremely supportive! They explained things in terms of a parent/child relationship. A parent sees the value of their children leaving home and starting independent life. However, that doesn't mean that the parents don't see the value of that child in the home. As a matter of fact it could be quite the opposite. In a lot of cases it is because parents see the value of their children they trust God enough to let them go and become what He intends for them to. And that is exactly what my Pastors (spiritual parents) are willing to do. I am appreciative in so many ways!

Thank you so much to those that have made an impact in my life...good and bad. I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as coincidences and every person and circumstance has it's place.

Working Through

Thought For The Day:
Again I have been feeling like there is not enought time in the day. Of course it could be my fault. Most days I make great strides to get done what I need to. It's the days when I don't write out a list that are the worst. It's like time just is sucked away.

So now that I have decided that I am going to take much of this summer to get my portfolio together so that I can start applying to some artist residencies (as soon as late fall), I have been avoiding my studio. I like that I have a place to call a studio, but if I have to be honest, it's not my favorite place. Let me clarify a bit.

I just started reading this book called "Imagine" by Jonah Lehrer. My dear sister-friend Trish blessed me with it after I read it a bit while we chatted at B&N, and I complained that I wanted to purchase the book, but needed to wait until it came out in paperback. I am not that far into the book, but the sleeve said something that caught my attention. It explained that the color blue is the best color to ignite creativity. I thought, "Hmm...that is why I feel so comfortable in my room." I made the switch from off white to blue about 3 years ago while redesigning my room. I wasn't so sure why I was compelled to choose blue because the purple and pink family is what I am normally drawn to. Perhaps God knew that I would need all the help I could get to always be fresh creativly.

I say all that to say that I am happier in my room creating that I am in my studio. There is something comforting in knowing that I can work and take a nap in the same area. My room is warm, and my studio...well, kind of cold. It is in my basement with little natural light and there is more than just my studio there. The other side serves as a storage area. This all may seem like complaining, but please understand my plight. I am extremely grateful for the studio area that I have...don't get me wrong. I could be working with nothing. I have attempted to make what I have a home, but it is no longer working in the manner in which is favorable for my work or my creative process.

My mission now is to work through. I need to get these pieces done, and I have lots of other things on the horizon. All of which cannot be held back by me not wanting to work in my studio. I will tie up my bootstraps and get to work...regardless of how I feel!

With that being said, you all will be seeing some completed painting real soon. I apologize beforehand because none of these paintings will be on sale as of yet.

Keep it easy folks! Until next post...

Chasing My Passion

Although I have been working so diligently and have new jewelry items and scarfs to post, I wanted to just talk tonight. I hope that is alright with those that are more visual...lol!

But no really, I have made a concrete decision to chase after my passion and my purpose. Anyone that has been following my posts for any period of time would know that it is my art...my creativity. I have put it out in the atmosphere now. I have made it known to the masses, and now there is no turning back. I am pressing toward the mark. I am going for the gold. I am leaping towards my passion and chasing it on purpose!

What exactly does that mean? Well, I will remain faithful to the call on my life of being an artist. I am working on my portfolio like no bodies business, and will be applying to several artist residencies come fall. I am also seeking out artist communities that are in the Philadelphia and Southern Jersey area, and look forward to joining a few. Last but not least, I am going to be selling my creations at a few locations in Philly this summer.

I subscribe to daily emails called The Prophecy Bulletin by Marsha Burns. The email that was sent day before yesterday spoke volumes to me. It said the following:

Be strong and stay steady as you move from one thing to the next. I [God] didn't promise that it would be easy, but I [God] did promise that I would be with you and not forsake you. There will be times when you need to be quiet; an emotional meltdown will not serve your best interest, says the Lord. Trust Me [God] for wisdom and direction. I [God] will indeed point the way and protect you on the way.

Hebrews 3:14 - "For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ."
This time I am going to remain strong and steady! I was not promised an easy road, but I was promised provision for the path that I am supposed to take. Thank You Lord for provision!

I am no longer interested in just calling myself an artist. I am no longer interested in being afraid that I will not make it. I am no longer interested in just putting my big toe in the water.

I am ready to jump in...all in...submerged!

So with that being said, I am about to take a dip! Until next post...

A new print fabric for you all! I am somewhat veering away from solid colors because I think the prints are so unique and add something exciting!

I am so excited to introduce the new spring scarf design. It is super light and not too long either. This one is already spoken for, but check back within the next few days to see new colors and designs!

History

This is the first seemingly solid fabric that I have used. The fabric is actually white with a few circular burnout areas that can be seen in certain lighting. I tried to capture it for you, but it is hard to see. I chose to use a sage green stitching.

Thought For the Day:
Before I get real thick into the thought of the day, I want to make mention that the titles for my posts always make mention to the thought for the day. I wanted you all to get the connection!

So, I have been thinking about history a lot lately. In the past I have posted about me not being real fond of learning about history for various reasons. But this time I am grateful for the history that I formerly despised.

I have learned a few things from old man history. It has a way of repeating itself. You see it happening in so many ways within our society (fashion, war, relationships, etc.). The reality is, we are creatures of habit. It is the habits that have us repeating the same ole' cycles some times. Today I can say that I am grateful that I am able to see the past (history) in hindsight. I am a better person for it. I am able to make better decisions...clearer decisions...wiser decisions. Instead of having to be taught the lesson over and over again, I can take a page from history and be equipped to get things right the first time. I have the ability to make my present and future so much better than my history. I am ever so grateful for that!

That's my rant for the day folks! I will be posting another pair of screen earrings this evening, and then previewing the new summer scarf line! Enjoy your weekend! Until next post....

Pearls of Wisdom:
History constantly keeps us informed of the things we need to change because they don't work, and allows those things that are working to remain in the forefront.
